About Us

Dumbledart's Bakery is made up of 2 people that are utterly as barmy as each other, Helen and James, or as our families know us, Nellie and Jimmy. 

I (Helen), do all of the baking, decorating and most of the designing of our lovely bespoke creations. Whilst James, on the other hand, deals with majority of the website, admin, can sometimes have a hand in helping designing cakes, and as you can see in the picture, he loves to test all of our cakes. Honestly, you have never seen a happier man if there's a new flavour to try, or off cut to tuck in to.

I first started baking and decorating cakes just by chance in 2013, in Daventry, Northamptonshire, where I used to live. I happened to make some cupcakes for a charity event where I worked at the time. Once people tried them, I was asked more and more often to make cakes for friends and family's celebrations. I realised that I must be doing something right and soon, word began to spread, so I decided to do it alongside my part time job. Fast forward to January 2019 and I moved to the amazing little Market Town of Highworth, with my then job and for a brand new start, to be closer to James, who originally hails from Devizes, and instantly felt at home. I started up my cake making again later in 2019, and quickly gained the trust of the lovely local people of Highworth and the surrounding areas, to create their cakes. 

In 2020, the year of the Rona, and those wonderful lockdowns, who can forget those? I was made redundant, so James and I discussed it, and we decided that it was time to go into the wonderful world of cake, full time, and the rest, as they say is history.

Myself and James work so very hard, pretty much 24/7 to ensure that our amazing little business continues to thrive and we love that something we have created together has gained such an amazing customer base, that not only return to us time and again, but the fact that they also tell their friends about us and recommend us to others too.

All of the skills that we both have, are totally self taught, whether it's me with my cakes, or both of us working on the website, all of it is something that we have created, with no outside help. 

Every time we receive a new order, there's still a little happy dance that gets performed by this absolutely bonkers baker, as it's something that never ever gets old, and I hope it never does.
